Today, we are going to learn Present Continuous or Present Imperfect – अपूर्ण वर्तमान काल (apoorn varthaman kaal). 

Present Continuous or Present Imperfect – अपूर्ण वर्तमान काल (apoorn varthaman kaal)

The present continuous tense indicates that an action or condition is happening now, frequently, and may continue into the future. It refers to an action (or experience) as actually proceeding, still unfinished. 

क्रिया के जिस रूप से कार्य के लगातार होने का पता चलता है, उसे अपूर्ण वर्तमान काल कहते है। जिन वाक्यों के अंत में रहा है, रहे है, रही है, रहा हूँ आदि आते है, उसे अपूर्ण वर्तमान काल कहते हैं। श्याम गेंद खेल रहा है।

Present Continuous is formed by adding रहा हूँ (raha hoon), रही हूँ (rahi hoon), रहे हो(rahe ho), रही हो( rahi ho), रहा है(raha hai), रही है(rahi hai), or रहे हैं(rahe hain) to the  verb root, depending upon the gender and number of the noun.

I am going	में जा रहा/रही हूँ	Mein ja raha/rahi hoon
We are going	हम जा रहे/रही है	Ham ja rahe/rahi hai
You are going (informal)	तुम जा रहे हो	Tum ja rahe ho
You are going (formal)	आप जा रहे/रही हैं	Aap ja rahe/rahi hain
He/She/It is going	यह/वह जा रहा/रही है	Yah/Vah ja raha/rahi hai
These/They are going	ये जा रहे हैं	Ye ja rahe hain
Those are going	वे जा रहे हैं	Ve ja rahe hain

I am studying	में पढ़ रहा हूँ	Mein padh raha hoon
Girls are studying	लड़किया पढ़ रही हैं	Ladkiya padh rahi hain
I am going to school	में स्कूल जा रहा हूँ	Mein school ja raha hoon
Gita is eating bread.	गीता रोटी खा रही है	Gita roti kha rahi hai
They are doing work	वे काम कर रहे हैं	Ve kaam kar rahe hain
What are you doing?	तुम क्या कर रहे हो?	Tum kya kar rahe ho?
Child is sleeping	बच्चा सो रहा है (म.) बच्ची सो रही है (फ.)	Bachcha so raha hai (m.) Bachchi so rahi hai (f.)
Who is singing there?	वहाँ कौन गा रहा है?	Vahan kaun ga raha hai?
We are learning Hindi	हम हिन्दी सीख रहे हैं	Ham Hindi seekh rahe hain
She is stitching clothes.	वह कपड़े सी रही है	Vah kapade see rahi hai
Grandpa is reading newspaper	दादाजी अख़बार पद रहे है	Dadaji akhbar pad rahe hai
That lady is selling fruits	वह औरत फल बेच रही	Vah aurath phal bech rahi hai
Where are you coming from?	आप कहाँ से आ रहे हैं?	Aap kahan se aa rahe hain?
He is laughing	वह हस रहा है	Vah has raha hai

1. John is writing a letter. जॉन एक पत्र लिख रहा है।
2. The girls are going to school. लड़कियां स्कूल जा रही हैं।
3. The carpenter is making a chair. बढ़ई कुर्सी बना रहा है।
4. He is running in the field. वह मैदान में दौड़ रहा है।
5. The boys are playing a football match. लड़के फुटबॉल मैच खेल रहे हैं।
6. I am singing a song. मैं एक गाना गा रहा हूँ।
7. I am not going to London. मैं लंदन नहीं जा रहा हूं।
8. She is not playing with her doll. वह अपनी गुड़िया के साथ नहीं खेल रही है।
9. The cow is not grazing grass. गाय घास नहीं चर रही है।
10. They are not going to market. वे बाजार नहीं जा रहे हैं
11. Are the girls reading in the room? क्या लड़कियां कमरे में पढ़ रही हैं?
12. Is the sun rising in the sky? क्या सूरज आसमान में उग रहा है?
13. Am I not writing a letter? क्या मैं पत्र नहीं लिख रहा हूँ?
14. Are you not going to school today? क्या तुम आज स्कूल नहीं जा रहे हो?
15. Why are you going there? तुम वहां क्यों जा रहे हो?
16. Whose book is he reading now? वह अब किसकी किताब पढ़ रहा है?
17.  What are you doing in the room? तुम कमरे में क्या कर रहे हो?
18. How many girls are taking part in the drama? कितनी लड़कियाँ ड्रामा में भाग ले रही हैं?
19. How much milk is child drinking? बच्चा कितना दूध पी रहा है?
20. He is constantly talking. I wish he would shut up. वह लगातार बात कर रहा है। काश वह चुप हो जाता।
